Volleys are a key shot for every type
of tennis player. Wether you are a serve and volley type player, or
an aggressive baseliner, the volley must be a part of your arsenal.
1.
Volley Drill:
-the player at the baseline hammers
shots at the player at the net
-this will help the player at the
net get used to fast paced shots
-the player at the baseline should
hit balls directly at the player at the net, beside him, and also try
to pass him
2.
Power Drill:
-a player at the service line feeds
high looping balls to the player a the net who hits the ball out of
the air with authority
-this drill is comparable to a sitter
being hit to you in a game situation. It is important to be able to
capitalize on these points
-both players are at the net and are
hitting volleys to each other
-this is a great drill to increase
your reaction speed
-as opposed to trying to over power
your partner with hard shots, try focusing on hitting low, crisp volleys
that force your partner into making an error.
4.
Approach Shot Drill:
-both players rally from the baseline
-one player hits a short ball, and
the other player hits an approach shot and then finishes the point at
the net Drill 4.0
5.
Volley-Catch Drill
-start at the service line, volley to
each other and get closer and closer to the net until you are able to
catch the ball in between your rackets Drill 5.0
6.
Drop Shot Drill
-One player hits the ball to the other
player who get closer and closer to the net until you are able to catch
the ball in between your rackets Drill 5.0
